Rules

Standard products launched between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2026 that show innovation in one or more areas are eligible for entry. Heritage products that have been in the market for 10 years or more are also eligible.

Entries open on 1 October 2026 and close on 28 February 2027.

Once entered, you are committed to the full process and cannot withdraw as this may jeopardise the nature of our research.

By submitting the entry form you are entering into an electronic contract with Product of the Year and accept the costs detailed below.

Standard License FeeR235 000.00 excl. VAT

Early bird: Entries received from 1 October to 30 November 2026 qualify for a 25% discount on the License Fee if voted a winner. The discounted License Fee is R176 250.00 excluding VAT. The Entry Fee remains R2 600.00 excluding VAT and is credited against the discounted License Fee, leaving a balance payable of R173 650.00 excluding VAT.

Step 1

Entry requirements

Here is everything you will need on hand to complete your entry.

  1. 1. Authorisation

    You must be authorised to enter on behalf of the brand. The Product of the Year entry form is a legal and binding agreement confirming your full commitment to the programme rules and all related fees (2027 Terms and Conditions).

  2. 2. Product details

    Please ensure all details are completed as per your own marketing details. Following finalisation of your entry and payment, a request will be made for the provision of hi-res product images as entered.

  3. 3. List of your top 3 competitors

    This information will aid in the process of creating categories in which your product will potentially compete.

  4. 4. Your contact information

    This is required for us to confirm your entry and schedule a programme participation briefing session with you and your team.

Step 2

Read & agree to the 2027 Terms and Conditions

Below are the four key details to be aware of prior to entering:

  1. Brands may not opt out once a finalised entry has been submitted. By submitting your product, you are providing full commitment to the programme and any fees that may apply if your product is voted a winner of Product of the Year.
  2. The standard Entry Fee for entering Product of the Year is R2 600.00 excluding VAT. Should your product win, the Entry Fee paid will be credited against your License Fee.
  3. If your product is voted a Product of the Year winner, the standard License Fee is R235 000.00 (Two Hundred and Thirty-Five Thousand Rand) excluding VAT before any applicable early bird discount. The previously paid Entry Fee will be credited against this amount.
  4. The entry form is an electronic contract. By clicking "submit", you are signing the submission form on behalf of your brand and agree to adhere to the Terms and Conditions of entry.

All fees are exclusive of VAT.

Upon submitting this application, you agree to be bound by the rules of the programme and agree to pay the stipulated programme fees should you win.

Participants are not allowed to opt out of the programme.
